As tariff regulations between Taiwan and the United States become more clearly defined, Taiwan’s plumbing hardware industry is entering a more stable trade environment. Supported by a transparent tariff framework, Changhua’s plumbing hardware manufacturers are strengthening their competitiveness in the U.S. market through superior quality and export advantages. To directly connect with end-market demand, the Changhua Plumbing Hardware Development Association recently visited the United States with support from the Industrial Development Administration (IDA), the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and the Economic Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles. The delegation participated in an industry matchmaking event with the Chinese American Construction Professionals Association and Yuh Guan International Group. This initiative creates new sales channels beyond existing frameworks, enabling manufacturers to stay informed about the latest product specifications and certification requirements in the U.S. construction market. It not only increases access to end users but also complements existing distribution channels, helping build a comprehensive overseas sales network.
Digital Transformation Drives Product Competitiveness
The transformation of industrial competitiveness was at the core of this successful market expansion effort. With support from the IDA, ITRI played a key advisory role by assisting companies in adopting digital management systems and smart manufacturing concepts, optimizing processes and improving efficiency. Through these initiatives, manufacturers can better control product quality and consistency, ensuring compliance with stringent U.S. standards while moving toward higher-value products. This upgrade in production capabilities not only enhances the overall value perception of Taiwanese products in international markets but also strengthens industry resilience against supply chain disruptions, becoming a powerful tool for expanding into the U.S. market and improving customer alignment.

Government Support Helps Local Clusters Go Global
Executive Supervisor Chung Wen-You stated that this U.S. market expansion mission carries significant milestone value. Although the Changhua industrial cluster possesses a complete supply chain, it previously lacked direct access to property developers and end-market customers. Successfully entering the U.S. market was made possible through strong government coordination, including policy guidance from the IDA, local support from overseas economic offices, and advisory resources from ITRI. This collaboration enabled local manufacturers to cross borders and connect directly with the U.S. construction industry. The public-private partnership model of “government builds the platform, businesses seize the opportunities” has become a key driver in positioning Changhua’s plumbing hardware industry as a global strategic partner.
Strategic Access to End Users Enhances Product Value
Chairman Chang Chia-Lieh emphasized that the government’s forward-looking strategy provides comprehensive support for the transformation of traditional industries and helps manufacturers connect directly with end customers. Direct engagement with developers offers three major benefits: First, deeper market insights through first-hand understanding of customer preferences, shortening product development cycles. Second, stronger product credibility through government-backed matchmaking, enhancing the overall market value of Taiwanese products. Third, improved supply chain resilience through diversified sales channels, reducing dependence on any single distribution network and delivering greater returns to manufacturers. The government's promotion of digital transformation enables the industry to target high-value customers with a “Team Taiwan” approach and establish a competitive advantage that is difficult to replicate.
Digitalization Leads a New Era of Global Exports
Through precise connections with local end users in the United States, Taiwan’s plumbing hardware industry is expected to benefit from more diversified procurement opportunities. Going forward, the association will continue working closely with the government to deepen digital transformation efforts and expand matchmaking activities, helping manufacturers strengthen their presence on the global stage. Through joint efforts by the public and private sectors, Changhua’s plumbing hardware industry will leverage its high-quality products and digital transformation achievements to achieve outstanding sales performance in both the U.S. and global markets.
