Integrating Green and Digital Transformation: MANAGING’s Journey to Twin Transformation

At MANAGING TECHNOLOGY, we strongly believe that the fusion of digital and green transformation is key to achieving long-term success and fostering sustainable growth. Our Managing Director, Chang Chia-Lieh, often underscores the importance of combining global thinking with local execution and leveraging robust resources to achieve a mutually beneficial and prosperous future. We understand that the integration of digital transformation and sustainable practices will lay a strong foundation for our future growth. MANAGING TECHNOLOGY is committed to pursuing this twin transformation, merging cutting-edge digital technologies with sustainable development practices to establish ourselves as leaders in the industry.

MANAGING TECHNOLOGY

As the only surface treatment supplier in Taiwan approved to produce components for top-tier French luxury brands, MANAGING TECHNOLOGY is acutely aware of the importance of responsible procurement, particularly in a high-energy-demand industry like surface treatment. We are actively responding to market demands for carbon reduction, with a focus on optimizing energy consumption and cutting down carbon emissions. Our first step involved conducting a carbon audit to identify the sources of high energy consumption in our production processes. From this analysis, we discovered that outdated coating equipment was the main contributor to excessive energy use, and our manual, paper-based management methods were preventing real-time optimization of the production workflow.

In response, MANAGING TECHNOLOGY began the transition to a smart manufacturing environment, applying lean management principles to enhance efficiency. We set up an internal team dedicated to continuous improvement, implementing data visualization tools that enabled digital tracking and analysis of production data. By utilizing QR codes, operators can now quickly check the status of orders, reducing human error from 5% to just 1% and cutting down data analysis time from 12 hours per month to only half an hour, allowing for faster and more precise decision-making.

To further optimize energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions, we upgraded our production machinery by purchasing energy-efficient coating machines and replacing older units. By enhancing our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and integrating it with an energy management system, we now monitor energy usage and process anomalies in real-time, thanks to the implementation of an equipment fault alert system.

These initiatives have resulted in significant energy savings of approximately 200,000 kWh annually, which has reduced our electricity costs by over USD $23,500. More importantly, our efforts have led to a 75% reduction in production-related carbon emissions, or roughly 99 metric tons of CO2. This not only boosts our competitiveness but also helps over 900 customers worldwide lower the carbon footprint of their products, reinforcing the foundation of a global green supply chain.

Aligned with our corporate mission, we have embraced a “Leader-Follower” strategy, where a strong enterprise leads and empowers smaller companies to strengthen their capabilities. We collaborate with local manufacturers of water hardware and surface treatment companies in Changhua to build a resilient supply chain, foster cross-industry partnerships, and advance toward a more sustainable future.

Through this twin transformation, MANAGING TECHNOLOGY is not only setting the pace in digital innovation but also paving a new path toward sustainable growth. Looking ahead, we will continue to explore new ideas and solutions that create greater value for our customers, the community, and the environment.
